Looking for detailed information on demographics? Look no further! The library is here to help.
We’ve added a great new business tool called PCensus. PCensus is a powerful software application that uses demographic information, spending data and mapping software to create detailed profiles of people and markets within an area.
For businesses, PCensus can be a gold mine of information about customers and potential customers. PCensus’ data and profiles can help businesses determine market potential, profile their customers, plot the best location for their business, target marketing initiatives, compare different areas and more. If you’re looking for people who fit your customer profile, PCensus can help you find them. Or, PCensus can tell you about the people living in a particular area so you can tailor your business and marketing plans to meet their needs.
PCensus data covers both demographics and spending habits. Demographic information includes the data gathered through the Canada Census. Spending data is available for a wide variety of categories, including food, transportation, clothing, medical care and more. Categories are broken down for greater detail. You can even find expenditures for pet food, cameras and garden supplies for an area of your choice.
You can use PCensus to profile all of Ontario, a single neighbourhood or anything in between. It can work with predefined areas like municipalities, postal forward sortation areas and Canada Census geography. Or, the map features can be used to create a radius or drive-time area around any point on the map. You can even draw a shape on the map and get a profile of the area within its boundaries.
PCensus is available on a dedicated terminal in the Reference Department on the second floor at the Central Library. We ask that interested patrons set up an appointment when using PCensus for the first time. You can reach us at 905-668-6531 ext. 2020 or at askalibrarian@whitbylibrary.on.ca.
